Artsenta Changes Directors
Frank Gordon has left our round roofed art studio home. Frank was the Director of Artsenta from September 2005 to March 2009. Frank has been a wonderful keeper of the jovial, creative, warm, whacky spirit of Artsenta.
We farewelled Frank with a concert which was a lively and moving send off. Being both a musician and an artist music has become a stronger part of Artsenta over Frank’s time. We reveled in the opportunity to revisit “Frank’s greatest hits”, one last chance at performing with his back up on vocals, base or guitar and being able to express our appreciation in music, poetry and song.
Frank will be remembered for his performances as MC of Arty and Partypants as Mr Tumlus and a Ringmaster. With his paintings being on the cover of two phone books and in numerous exhibitions we have greatly enjoyed his input into painting. A recent project was a mural that sees native birds adorning the one of entrances to Wakari Hospital. Most of all it is moments of fun, support and spontineity woven through the time of Frank’s directorship that we will miss.
All endings are followed by a new beginning and we are lucky to have Jill Thomson stepping up to direct Artsenta. Jill has been Deputy Director of Artsenta for six years. She is an endless source of creativity. Jill has a knack for finding just the right project, tool or solution for any situation, whether it be making something satisfying as your first art adventure or conceiving of a fantastic one off event. We look forward to Artsenta’s continuing unfolding with Jill.
