Writing
Creative writing happens every Thursday at 1:30. We gather around a table in the lower quieter part of Artsenta where the afternoon sun is starting to slope in. Writing group is usually a small comfortable group, often of about four people. Sometimes we decide together what to write about: rivers, a picture, spring, the comet. We might start by brainstorming words or ideas for everyone to use or simply get going.Other ideas are more zany like: writing a story where one sentence is true and the next is false, writing to the moon, picking words from other poetry books to put together into a poem. Often the first thing we write is just the beginning, it might then get cut up and pasted into a different order, combined with the words from a magazine or parts of it put together into a group poem.
Once things have been written there is the chance to show your work on the creative writing blackboard, in the Artsenta Poetry book, to read your writing out in our regular concerts, or to tuck it away and feel very pleased with yourself. Come along and give it a go, we'd love to see you. Plenty of people who have not written before have felt surprised and delighted by what they have done.
