EARTHWORKS

EARTHWORKS

EARTHWORKS HAPPENS EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM 10am -12noon

We have great resources for doing claywork at Artsenta both human and mechanical.  In the pottery room we have an electric potters wheel an electric kiln, a pugmill for recycling clay and a  range of clays, slips, coloured stains and glazes for enhancing our  forms and surfaces.
Come and see Greta if you wish to join in this class. We are very flexible as to what you may wish to make. Sometimes artists suggest projects or objects they feel inspired to make which may span several classes. At other times Greta will start you off on projects to enable you to learn basic techniques."I am here to help you translate your ideas successfully into clay which could mean learning a particular hand-building technique or choosing and using a mould.
You may even wish to make your own pattern or mould. At other times I have requests to learn more traditional  techniques like throwing on the potters wheel."
Come along on  Wednesdays with an  idea or  pictures of pots that you like and we will go from there. Beginners are welcome as are people who have already done some pottery. Recently we have been working with Abbots White clay and learning how to coil. Once an artist is confident with the basic techniques the clay room is open for them on a daily basis to practice and work independently however we do encourage new artists to attend class on Wednesday morning until a certain level of confidence has been reached.
